The threads are so far in from the end of the crank, cant see them.

Well, we finally got it . Ended up using a flap wheel to barely sand the inside of the damper. ( there is a little step in it, and the new one seemed to have more of one then the stocker). Also used grease on the snout instead of just oil, then with room since the fan was out, used a cut down 2x4 and a hammer to drive it on. I was able to use the tap to clean up the threads and didnt have to cut the bolt . Now i just need to bleed the power steering fluid,and top it off.

Any tips?

Sorry, I can't help you on that one. I didn't disconnect the power steering or the fan, just the radiator and trans. cooler lines. Glad you got it done. Let us know how it works when you get it up and running.

I find filling it then turning the wheel lock to lock (made MUCH easier with the front wheels in the air) does pretty good, I also rock it back and fourth a bit about 4-6 inches... Ill start it up for a moment then shut it off and do it again then start it up and let it go, It works well for me.

I did that and let it get warm (to turn the fan) but it still feels soft in the straight ahead position. I dumped about a gallon, and so far only got 1/2 gal in.
