Battery sensor

97 Jeep Cherokee classic

Can anyone shed any light on a battery sensor is it important or not and is there a possibility of bypassing it till I can get a new one or can it be pulled apart need help asap please

Not familiar with the cherokee, but you mean the battery temperature sensor which sits under the battery? This sensor is used to regulate the charging voltage to the battery, with lower temperatures, a higher voltage is used to charge the battery.
Not sure on the XJ, but on the WJ this temperature signal is also used for the OBDII diagnotics. Some monitors will not run below a certain temperature.
I donīt know what simply disconnecting of the sensor will do. What happened to the sensor on your jeep?

Ahh k not a hassle I got it fixed for now so till I can actually find out I'll run with it
