Changing oil pressure sending unit 5.7

Do you have to drop the oil to replace the oil pressure sending unit?

Thanks

Re: Changing oil pressure sending unit 5.7

^? don't know if you mean drain the oil or drop the pan, but either way no. you will need to drop the skid plate if you have one. It is a P.I.T.A. to get to , very tight fit you'll need a 1-1/16" deep socket for it.

I haven't done it on this engine. However, if the oil pressure switch is downstream of the check valve and filter non-return in the flow path, I would be prepared with a catch can for some drain-back.

CAUTION: This advice may be worth what you paid to get it.......

Re: Changing oil pressure sending unit 5.7

On my 3.7 there was a tiny amount of residual oil that leaked out but nothing serious at all.
