clunk noise

Im hearing this clunk noise from the front of my 09 jeep grand cherokee 3.7 whenever I'm going over a bumpy road. I brought it to a mechanic today who said it was the front 2 struts so he replaced them but I'm still hearing the clunking noise. He's closed now so i was going to bring it back monday since he misdiagnosed the problem although he did show me that my struts were worn. I attached a video so you can hear the noise. Any suggestions what it might be? the mechanic said he checked everything over and it all looked good before he gave it back to me and i noticed it was making the noise still.

46,650 miles. Mechanic tried to see if there was any play in the wheels while on the lift but they were good

Re: clunk noise

I guess so. When I try pushing on the front end it doesn't bounce around or anything. I don't know why he replaced the struts

Re: clunk noise

Did he loosed the shock it self? Check and see the bolts if they r tight but thumping sound always leads to the shock being worn if he replaced the strut and not the shock then there was a reason when the strut wore out and needed to be changed

Re: clunk noise

Well I brought it to him an hour before close so he had 3 guys working on it to get it done in an hour. He's a reliable mechanic, when he showed me the strut before he replaced, I saw grease all over it and it was pushed down so it looks like the seal went bad on it. I'm not sure what he did exactly but I was just going to bring it back to him Monday. Doubt there's anything I can really do

Re: clunk noise

Yeah I know what u mean but that seal had to break for a reason as the shock aids it with bouncing alot

Re: clunk noise

You think it might be the sway bar making the noise? When I look up the strut part, it's basically the shock in which he replaced for the front. I'm looking at a sway bar on Amazon and review from someone said it helped to quiet a clunking on the front of his 06 commander so maybe my sway bars are shot?

Re: clunk noise

Could be the sway bar links not the sway bar it self

Re: clunk noise

Yeah sorry that's what I meant. Anyway I could test that myself if I jacked it up or can it only be done on a lift?
