Code P0456 ??

Pulling code P0456 fellas Evaporative Emissions System Very small leak, did some research, seems like a pain, checked gas cap, it was secure and gasket looks good, check all my lines from the purge valve to the tank still look brand new, it is only an 09, so idk what could be setting it off, having looked at the canister yet, but has anyone else delt with this, I did overfill the tank last week, but that was a week ago, im a little lost, someone point me in the right direction, for now I retripped the code, we'll see if it comes back on, thanks for the help in advance!

Re: Code P0456 ??

I'm guessing it won't come back. These Jeeps really do not like to be overfilled. I've experienced weird gauge readings just with overfilling by less than a dollar.
If it does come back I would just give it a few more trips to hopefully sort itself out before getting too worried. Most likely a sensor out of spec.

Re: Code P0456 ??

A VERY common failure on the WK is the ESIM switch (evaporitave system integrity monitor). It is a little plastic switch doohicky that mounts to the end of the charcoal canister. It uses this switch to deturmine if there is a leak or not and many times there is not a leak, it is just bad information from a bad ESIM switch. I am NOT telling you that this is your problem, just telling you it could be. I believe you can get the switch already mounted on a shiny new charcoal canister for not too bad of a price.

This is an impossible code to do a proper diagnosis on in a driveway, so its going to be parts replacement until you get it right, OR take it to a shop with a smoke/flow machine. On the Chryslers I flow test it, if the tester indicates there is no flow there is no leak, and it gets an ESIM switch (the ESIM switch is not used on all Chrysler evap systems so obviously this diagnosis and repair is only applied where applicable). Some people use smoke, but smoke can be difficult to spot if there is a leak let alone using it to determine there is NOT a leak.

I hope that's the case, so we'll see, Thanks!

That's a new one, haven't seen anything about that yet, but that would make sense especially since everything still looks new, I might look into it, I have to take it into the dealer next week for a recall, anyway so if the light comes back on maybe ill have them test it, It frustrates me how many things it could be, but at least im finding somewhwere to start, thanks buddy
