Driver side mirror problem - what could it be ?

Something strange happened to my driver side mirror recently. I can see two images... one is shifted a little bit and with a green/purple tint. That is during the day. The auto-dim don't need to work very often here because im nearly always alone on the road but I did a trip during the weekend and I noticed that the auto-dim is not working anymore...

What could it be ? Is is an electrical problem inside the vehicule (wire, fuse, ...) or is it a mirror problem ? Is it something common and easily fixed ?

How could it be possible... I did not hit anything with my mirror.

Before spending lot of money on that I would like to try fixing it myself but I don't know where to begin.

Thank you

Sounds like the seal on ur mirror has failed and the liquid crystal fluid inside has either shifted, fallen to the bottom of the mirror or has leaked out completely.
