Fuel gauge

I have. 2006 GC limited and the VIN indicates it has a 26 gallon fuel tank. I just had the low fuel light go on and put in 17.5 gallons to fill it. After the fill, the gauge read full. Is there a way to set it to read the extra fuel on the gauge?

Re: Fuel gauge

26 gallon tank in a WK?

As far as I can tell, the only tank listed for an 06 WK is 21 gallons.. (20.6 listed capacity)

Re: Fuel gauge

As mentioned above, the tank capacity is ~20.6 gallons.

It sounds like your light came on at the right time. There is no way to adjust the warning message, as this is tied to calculations of the last drive cycles MPG, I believe. It is designed to trigger when you have a certain number of miles of driving left (though I can't remember what that value is).

Re: Fuel gauge

My build sheet from Jeep lists the fuel tank at "20.5 Gallon Fuel Tank" under "Standard Equipment". It then lists "7.5 Additional Gallons of Gas" under "Optional Equipment". I've never taken the vehicle beyond the low fuel light to see if it would have this extra fuel.

the "7.5 additional gallons" is the fuel they put in the "20.5 gallon tank" at the assembly plant.

Re: Fuel gauge

Thanks to all, especially tomk, for clearing this up. I don't know which is dummer, me thinking I had 7.5 extra gallon tank or them listing 7.5 gallons of gas as an option, LOL.

I know you read your vin no. But is a chance you misread it most 2006 GC come with 20-21 gal fuel tanks an extra 5-6 gal capacity hummm make sure I have a 2002 econo line 250 with a 27 gal cap when fuel hit 4.00+ a gal I would either fill at half tank or b4 cause a full fill up was 120+ bucks talk about a hit where it hurt.

All WKs have a ~20gal tank so not an issue.

I gotta say, though, that the combination of the 25-gal tank and the much better mileage on the '14 WK2 makes for a very different long-trip experience..
