Grease on caliper 06 G.C.

I had black grease or heavy oil coating left rear brakes,not brake fluid ,is this a easy fix at home garage ?

It may be the axle seal on your left side. This was the problem on my xj. Replacing it involves removing the axle. This involves opening the rear end, taking out the pin and c clip, pulling out the axle, pulling the seal, installing new seal and putting it back together. Good idea to check the bearing too. There are videos on you tube showing the process.

Xj's have Clips Wk's and WJ's do not. Just have to change the axle seal.

Just not that simple. it's maybe a 2 hr job if a shop does it requires removing the rear axle cutting the bearing off and collar and replacing the seal and pressing it back on.

I did not know that they changed the innards of the chrysler 8.25 to eliminate the c-clips. But yeah, theres you tube videos for that type of rear with the pressed on bearings. Its easier but you need to get the bearing pressed on and off.
