Hard "CLUNK" when shifting into gear

Been experiencing a hard CLUNK or jolt lately when shifting the WK from Reverse into Drive. Seems like it is coming from front end but might be rear. Have also had occasional hard downshift when coasting downhill with no acceleration (not pressing gas pedal).

Any clues what I might be experiencing? Currently at 55K miles.

Front diff bushing for sure. I had mine replaced last year at the dealer, it was about 250$ all said and done.

For $250 all said and done, surely they didn't replace all 3 bushings...because all 3 are close to $200 in parts alone.

Re: Hard "CLUNK" when shifting into gear

OK thanks for the input - headed to the dealer in the morning to have it checked out. Don't guess this would be covered under an extended warranty? Probably wear-and-tear item...

No codes, but I just rolled 56k (I drive a long way to work), so we are just about in the same range mileage-wise.

Re: Hard "CLUNK" when shifting into gear

You need to change out your Front Differential Bushing. I had mine changed out and it makes a big different. My old ones were shot.
