Yep, I solder all my wiring repairs! Just make sure you have the joint sealed, heat shrink tubing is prefered, even more so the kind with the coating that oozes out to really seal it up.

Use those butt connectors right? The blue ones if someone can verify?
You can even put heat shrink over these before you connect and crimp and slide it over and heat it up.

I cannot remember the last time I used a butt connector... those are NO good for longevity, If your stranded and need to connect wires to get home, sure, for something important like lighting I would solder, technically you should probably crimp the wires together then solder over the crimp, personally i have never seen a good solder repair fail though.

Now if I were to change all of the bulbs so that they were matching(lows/highs/fogs) do I need to cut and splice in new sockets for each one? The stores I went to only seemed to carry 55W bulbs so I do not want the same thing to happen to me again. The sockets they sell say they are rated for higher wattage bulbs than stock. Thanks for your help
