Hearing fluid move upon startup

OK this just started about a week ago. Crank up the Jeep and you hear a sound like something filling with fluid under the dash (might be in engine bay near the cab too). What is weird is when you accelerated and brake you can hear the fluid moving back and forth, and it sounds like a lot of fluid. Notice it more upon initial startup - seems to lesson after it gets warm.

Any ideas on what this is??

Re: Hearing fluid move upon startup

It is the coolant. Mine does the same and it is not an issue unless you smell ethylene glycol from the heater core. I had a heater core leak 4 years ago and a highly reputable mechanic told me to use a bottle of k-seal ceramic sealer; He's used it countless times with no failures. Never though it would be permanent fix but they guarantee. Been 55k miles and I drive pedal to the metal rather often.

Re: Hearing fluid move upon startup

Thanks for the info. No coolant smell - actually had the core replaced a few years ago.

OK thanks - I'll check the coolant level.

Question - can the Zerex coolant be mixed with/ added to the factory red coolant?

No I think that factory fluid has to be the same added so on the jeeps stay with the factory red if that is what is in there.

Re: Hearing fluid move upon startup

I noticed along with the coolant moving around noise that the radiator hoses were collapsing after shutoff, meaning the cooling system is pulling vacuum, and holding it. I removed the radiator cap to release the vacuum and the hoses returned to normal. and I then noticed a buildup of crud inside the cap, around the upper seal and the lower seal (spring seated) that goes to the overflow tank. Just rinsed it off under the faucet, and that cured the problem.
