Heater/AC Vent Handle

I am missing one of the little pieces that allow you to move the heater/ac vents on my 06 GC Limited. It is chrome trimmed and I have not been able to find them anywhere online. If anyone knows where I can get one it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Aaron

Re: Heater/AC Vent Handle

Mine was replaced twice under warranty. Once probably due to wear and another time the dealer broke it while taking apart the dash. I have listed on one of my service forms the part number. My guess is you cant just get the little slider but rather the whole assembly based on the cost of this.

# 1BL77ZJ8-AC - OUTLET AI - $53.52

In each case, this was the left drivers side. You may want to take this part number to the dealer and see if they can do a search to see if this assembly can be ordered in pieces.

You CAN just get the slider. I replaced one on my '05 a last year. I dont remember how much or the part#, but it wasnt to bad. you have to remove the vent to install it.

Re: Heater/AC Vent Handle

If someone could get this part number, I would be in debt to you. All 4 of my front ones are missing/broken and also the two on the center console for the rear are broken too. I was told I would need to replace the entire vent piece at $50 for each side and $150 for the center trim piece.

Please please please can someone get the part number for just the adjuster???

I would also greatly appreciate a part number. My searching the internet has turned up nothing.

Anybody have any more info to provide? Everything I've seen says you have to replace the whole vent (not just the slider) and doing so involves taking apart the whole dash.

Re: Heater/AC Vent Handle

The vent only shows up as a single piece in the parts catalog.

I also checked with local dealerships when I broke one of mine a couple of years back, and they all said what most of us have heard - it's not available as a separate piece.

In the end I just fixed the pieces that I had, but it would have been a whole lot easier to replace it, so I too hope there is a way to source these as separate parts.

Did you indeed have to remove the whole dash to gain access to the back of the vent to fix the slider?

Re: Heater/AC Vent Handle

It certainly looked that way. I spent couple of minutes looking at whether there was a simple way to get at it, and came to the conclusion tha the dash would have to come out...

I treated it like a laparoscopic surgery and got some tools in behind the vent through the grill holes in the front and put it together that way...not really ideal, or the easiest thing to do!

Honestly, I don't think it was worth the effort - If one breaks again I think I'll just glue the silver tab in place...it won't be functional, but it won't look too bad.
