Heater Core issue

In February of 2015, I bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trail Edition. The dealership I could it from said that he wanted to replace the heater core, said it wasn't bad but it was going bad and before he would let me buy it he had it fixed. For the last three months I complained about my floor board being wet and sometimes soaked at times with a brown liquid I won't say antifreeze cause it's not antifreeze but it does have the smell of antifreeze. Friday I was out and about and the whole thing just started spraying fluid from under the dash. Again it was a brown liquid. I called the dealership and he yelled at me and blamed me for the issue and refuses to fix it. SO can someone help me or tell me where to go to find instructions on putting in a heater core?

Re: Heater Core issue

well I don't really have a choice I have to have my Jeep to get back and forth from work. The dealership isn't of any help and I don't know what else to do. Forking out up to 600 bucks for labor and another 200 for the part isn't something I have laying around. I believe my down payment paid for this so called repair, I am wanting it done and done right. Heater cores that are brand new don't blow that easily do they?

Re: Heater Core issue

Is there anything on paper regarding the heatercore replacement? Do you have warrantee on the jeep? They obviously didnīt replace the heatercore.
This dealer must be avoided.
There are cases known where a new heater core started leaking after a few weeks of use. This is normally caused by electrolysis due to stray currents. This type of currents occur when an electrical component has a bad ground, and the current finds its way back to the battery via the cooling system. Depending on the component and its current draw, this process can go very quickly. A starter with a bad ground for example, could cause a heater core (or radiator) to start leaking rapidly.

Re: Heater Core issue

Yes, I signed a purchase agreement stating that the heater core was to be fixed once fixed then I would purchase. The great thing is they say in this agreement they are fully responsible for this part. They even faxed it to the finance company. They say my warranty ran out a month ago. I just got the Jeep in Feb., of this year after going through my own paperwork I still have another two and half weeks on the warranty. There's also a warranty on the part they put in. Also, if anyone is in North Vernon Indiana, please avoid Payton Place Auto, there vehicles aren't worth the money you place into them and they refuse to fix what is promised to fix.

Re: Heater Core issue

I just added some more info on my previous post with a reason how a new heatercore can go bad quickly.
Also have a look here: http://www.ve-labs.net/electrolysis-101/how-to-prevent
