Help 2005 wk dtc codes

Hey guys. I need some help. I went to the dealership to have some stuff repaired because I had these codes popping up, however, it has NOT been fixed the last two times. I'm taking my receipts in so those cocksuckers can fix it this time, I'm not paying shit for it anymore.

I checked the diagnostic thread to see the potential codes that pop up in this thread Diagnostic Trouble Codes but none of the codes are listed in this thread.

Has anyone had these codes before?? If so, please tell me what the problem was, also is there a potential TSB's or recalls that I should know about??

These are the codes I get

P0513 - Invalid Skim Key
U110A - Lost Communication With Scm
U1411 - Implausible Fuel Volume Signal Received

Also the orange service light shows up (middle of dash)
As well as "Service Break Elec System"
Sometimes even the traction control light comes on, no idea if this is apart of the same issue, but it tends to go away.

I need help guys, I really do, Im sick of the monkeys at the service shop clearing the codes and pretending that there is nothing wrong.

P0513 - Invalid Skim Key-its not recognizing your key or the switch is going bad
U110 - Lost Communication With Scm-this is another key switch problem...its losing signal at the pcm for the key
U1411 - Implausible Fuel Volume Signal Received-The fuel volume message the PCM is receiving is implausible-no idea here...maybe the fcm or pcm is going bad....but it could be involved with the key switch too. Or an aftermarket alarm etc.

lost com with SCM is where your check electric brake system message is coming from, following an attempted squeeking clockspring repair I got an SCM internal failure code... fortunatly it worked itself out (doesnt squeek any more!!!) . The reason your traction control lamp comes on is because with no Steering Control Module communication the ABS module doesnt know your steering wheel position so it lets you know its not going to be functional if you need it.

Unfourtunatly these are no easy diagnostics... your intermittant traction control lamp is probably the only time that your U110A code is actually active.

your invalid skim key could be your WIN module going belly up, Been there, replaced those. Usually the car comes in on the hook with multiple key codes in multiple modules.

Basically, its frusterating but these are all tough concerns. All these modules are on the Can B bus (SCM, WIN, and Cluster... Cluster gets input directly from the sender for fuel level then relays that info on the bus.) Could be a bus issue, all these use the same S205 and S206 splices on the B+ and B- wires.

All that said be prepaired to be back a couple more times, Its not fun and I respect your frusteration but is not going to be a simple diagnosis and they may not get it for another couple trys... You have a legit problem that only happens every so often... and its not easy to pinpoint your issue when that is the case, just know that.

Thanks Scott, Ill let the guys at the stealership know. Its very frustrating, from what I have read on the internet about these codes, they don't seem like they are very serious. However, the service engine light lighting up and staying on is a huge problem for me.

I can't have it stay on just incase another problem arises and I don't catch it.

Called the dealership, they said because they fixed the issue on Wednesday, it must be a new issue..............Yaaaaa okieee?

They also said they could potentially charge me another 5 hours to diagnost the problem,,,,,, uhhhhh what??

Ive supplied the codes, what the codes mean....and they really feel like they need to treat a customer this way.. wow LOL

Codes dont mean ANYTHING, especially U codes (communication). Sure egr valve codes, or O2 slow response codes do a pretty good job of pointing you at the fault, U codes are reguarding communication moving at 83kbs (Can B and 500kbs Can C i think 125kbs for Can IHS) then consider that its not happening all the time, they have to figure out if that moment in time when it actually looses contact if it was a fault in the bus, or if its a failing module...

I had a 4.0l grand cherokee in a couple weeks ago with a #6 injector control circuit code. It ran like crap and smelled like gas. I found the harness had dropped down over a rear head bolt and the stud on the bolt was up into the loom. After tearing the loom apart and locating the #6 control wire it still took me 15 minutes laying across the engine bay to find the damage to the insulation, it was litterally just big enough to make contact with ground... even pointing it out to coworkers with my finger pointing right at it and flashlight on it it took them all a couple seconds to see the damage.

That said all I am getting at is if it were a bus integrity issue, especially considering these are all behind the dash, tracing the wires is going to be that much more difficult. Knowing if its a module sending wrong information... its all stuff that even with the fastest labscope known to man all your going to see is communication but not be able to decipher right or wrong communication. These are not easy...

Fortunatly for you according to chrysler diagnostics for these codes you only have a couple more modules to go before everything has been replaced

Chrysler diagnostics gives a list of "possible causes"... unfourtunatly its an engineer with a pocket protector and glasses that make his eyes look HUGE, or at least thats how I like to picture them, like the stapler guy on office space:


... sitting at a desk somewhere deturmining all the causes for each fault and sometimes things are missed, but, there were like 4 or 5 "possible causes" for each of those codes. pcm, tipm, wiring, etc...

To be honest you may have a couple issues, not just one issue causing all of these... I do find it very interesting that all of these modules share the same splices and other than the FCM also sharing the splice no other modules use these splices, furthermore they are all in the same general area steering wheel/dash area, making me think that it very well could be a wiring integrity issue.

I will admit, my aftermarket alarm has been acting up on me lately, And I hard code U1411 may come from this.

Who knows, maybe thats the reason why I'm getting all three codes shooting?

Scott hit the nail on the head... your alarm and or associated wiring may be causing all of this. the newer and newer the vehicles get the less they like non factory stuff being spliced in. hell dependant on the splices used and what everything was spliced too it could be a splice joint failing.
