Help!!!!

My 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee has started to give me the message of Transmission Over Temp with the Red Security Light and the EBS light and the engine light on. Didnt want to shift with the shifter locked but engine still running, got to override the trans to get it to move only driving on 2nd gear. Took it to dealership were they change the transmission control module $565 cost. A day after and its back to doing the same thing. Any one out their please help I can afford putting in parts when they dont fix the problem.

Thanks

Call the dealership that did the work and speak with the service manager about what they can do for you. they should work with you big time... DO NOT DELAY IN CALLING THEM! Every day that passes is more justification for a "it worked fine for 2 weeks, it is a different problem" bull crap.

Re: Help!!!!

The real problem may be only the trans. temp sensor, not the control module. Bet the stealer is playing games. I would think this should be an easy diagnosis with their StarScan tool. I hate most stealers......just replace parts (at your expense) until they stumble onto the problem.

Re: Help!!!!

update, i was driving in rainy condition, got off highway trans stuck in one gear, wont' shift, have to pull off put in park and turn off and restart, drive fine after awhile , but got into town check engine light came on, i say oh great, noticed power loss when driving. although stayed at friends house, in morning check engine light cleared itself. i drove to nearest autozone, i read code, found out speed sensor fault. i was like ok, not aware if under my 80k power train warranty to fix that issues or dealer don't know? just drove home today, it was getting better and noticed gain on my gas mileage. .... some how did it reset itself? or should i go dealer have it checked?

Re: Help!!!!

Well guys, after fixing a bunch of parts, and headaches. I finally figured out the issue. Yes, I forget the member who mentioned it, but every Jeep is different depending on engine size and transmission. My 5.7 Hemi has a module called an ECM module.

My shop was able to do a bunch of diagnostics and we have switched out the ECM module as they saw it was kicking in and out. I now have a new ECM module and I've been working A'Ok lately

Actually at least for Chrysler it is a PCM or. Power train control module. ECM is nomenclature used for Diesel engine control modules only. The PCM IS covered by the 8yr 80k mi extended emissions warranty.

went back to dealer, said was low on trans fluid, i changed myself only 5.4 quarts. he added 1/2 quart, and level is correct, i was confused although don't have a problem anymore. apparently fluid is low causing those mishaps. tech says. and told me trans overheated once. i was like huh? why didn't warn me at all. last time pulled pop up camper 3k lbs, not a problem.
