Re: HELP No Crank No Start Just a Click

You need to be more clear with your explanation.

It sounds to me it's cranking over but won't fire first time? Is that correct?

Re: HELP No Crank No Start Just a Click

I recently had to replace my starter. I would get a single click when I turned the key. I got under and tapped the starter and it fired up. I thne replaced it with a new starter.

Wierd thing happend. I replaced the starter after the click problem and it fired up fine for a couple days. I went out yesterday morning and found the battery so dead the lights wouldnt come on. I hooked up jumper cables to it and just before connecting them to my other jeep. I touched them together quickly and got a very slight spark. After having the jeeps connected for a while, it started up slowly. Now I checked everything possible I could think of that could drain the battery and couldnt find anything.

I drove it to the local auto parts store and had them test the battery. The test results were fine. I had them replace it anyway.

I really think I may have had a dead cell in the battery and when the older starter tried to start it might have been pulling more amps than the newer starter and the battery couldnt fire it. With the new starter it might have been fine. It was very cold out the day the battery was dead.

Just letting you know, it may be one or a combination of both. FYI

Re: HELP No Crank No Start Just a Click

I had the notorious one click and no start issue. I had a one month old Optima Red top, and so I know it wasn't the battery. I wiggles all the wiring, checked for corrosion, and look for bad connections. Still one click, and no start. I had to keep trying to fire it up numerous times before it would finally catch. I removed the starter, replaced, and no issues since... So for all it's worth, it's the stupid starter... Replace it.

Re: HELP No Crank No Start Just a Click

Mine is just the connection on the starter. When ever it does it i just wiggle the starter connections and it will fire. So i hope some of your guys' starters were actually bad not just the connections corroded.

Re: HELP No Crank No Start Just a Click

Mine was just the connector too. I cleaned them and it's been over a year now with no problems. I hope you guys didn't waste money. I hope you actually had bad starters too.

Re: HELP No Crank No Start Just a Click

Can someone explain where the starter is located on a WK HEMI? And how to wiggle/clean connections? Do I need to crawl underneath the car?

It was easiest for me to pull the inner fender out on the driver side. It was all I can do reach the wires, but god blessed me with short big arms.

Re: HELP No Crank No Start Just a Click

07 5.7 Hemi Started "OK" drove 10 miles pulled into gas station went inside came back out turned the key dash lights came on all seemed fine till key was tuned to start "Nothing" Disconnected the battery post then reconnect them "Nothing" waited 1 1/2 hr.
Turned key it started headed back to dealership had to make a stop at home first pulled in driveway as routine I turned the darn thing off went into the house came back outside realized that I had turned it off. Sat right there for another 1 1/2 hr. turned the key and it started called dealership that I was coming went straight to dealer drove it right inside got out told them don't shut it off till you have it where you want it. The dealership installed a new starter so far all is well.
