Hemi CEL codes

I just got an 06 GC Limited with 107k miles and 5.7 Hemi w Q/drive II. A week after I got it, it threw an EGR error code. I took it to my mechanic and he replaced EGR. It threw another code the next day P0507. I called and the mechanic said they cleaned the throttle body and it probably needs the idle settings erased. Took it in and they erased for no charge. Threw the P0507 again after one day. The mechanic said drive it for a week so I did and it threw a P2110 code along with the P0507 then cleared itself. That lasted for a few days then threw the same 2 codes for just one day. I've been code free for a couple of days now. The car never died but the idle dropped briefly a couple of times. The mechanic says next step is throttle body but he says to keep driving and it may clear itself. Any insights?

Re: Hemi CEL codes

First, I'd check the throttle body wiring between the PCM and the throttle body. On the P0507 code, the IAC is an integral part of the throttle body on the 5.7 and serviceable/accessible. I am curious how and why they, "erased the idle settings". Can't be done, other than resetting adaptives, which usually resets all the adaptives. It takes a good computerized diagnostic tool to do this properly. Here's the info. on your codes.

P0507 Possible Causes
(K61) IAC CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(K961) IAC SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
(K961) IAC SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(K61) IAC CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
IAC MOTOR
PCM

P2110 Possible Causes
THROTTLE PLATE STUCK
(K124) ETC POSITIVE CIRCUIT OPEN
(K126) ETC NEGATIVE CIRCUIT OPEN
(K124) ETC POSITIVE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(K126) ETC NEGATIVE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
ETC MOTOR
PCM

Re: Hemi CEL codes

Thanks for the info. I'll ask my mechanic what he did. I guess I'm not sure how replacing the EGR and cleaning the TB can make these errors crop up. I will check the wiring as this seems like a wiring problem in the way it comes and goes.

Re: Hemi CEL codes

It depends on how they cleaned the TB. They could have screwed it up. They're very sensitive and quite a few have toasted theirs by getting cleaning solvents/cleaners in and around the wrong places. You may want to ask them what their cleaning procedure is, and did they remove it? Hope they didn't dip it in a solvent tank or something like that.

Re: Hemi CEL codes

I don't know what they did to the throttle body but the codes cleared themselves and all is well. I guess the lesson learned is if it is running fine with CEL codes, give it some time and it might clear itself. I' m glad I didn't replace the TB as it seems to be fine now.

Re: Hemi CEL codes

Yes, some codes will clear themselves after 3 "good" run cycles without the issue occurring again. Some will also go into a "stored" status, but won't trip a MIL (light) when they happen. Most of those are communicaion codes or something similar. it takes a scanner that is capable of reading all types of codes (active, pending/stored, and historical) to see them.
