High beams with fog lights

Is there a way to enable the High Beams and the Fog lights WITHOUT a StarScan tool?

I've had previous vehicles where it was an extremely easy mod with either
bridging a wire, or removing a Pin out of the Relay.

I just left the dealer, and they programmed my mirrors to point down in Reverse,
but they couldn't do the Fog Lights. Seems they don't have a Starscan tool, but some
other "newer" Star"Mobil" tool. It wouldn't let them do any Export modes.
I had even printed out the instructions and given to them.

I've actually just thought of having my Highbeams trigger a relay to power the fog lights as well, but that might be too much voltage in a "flash to pass" situation.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Vehicle is an '08 GC SRT-8

Thanks

Where did you get the star scan sequence to enable the fogs w/hi beams?

I have been trying to enable the front/rear fogs to work independently from each other just like the export model WK2's. I have the rear fogs and the double push export model switch to do this but I would still need to flash the bus system to make it all work.

Please post what you have, and tell us where you got your info. Thanks

I got it from the Cherokee SRT8 forum. Here is the info, so I won't put links to another forum.

Well I know there are several threads on people asking how to do these features, which seem to be scattered all over the forum. I printed them out awhile ago and lucky enough, found them when someone asked how to do something. Here is what I have:

Here are some features that can be programmed via StarScan for our Jeeps, these have been verified to work in '08 and '09 GC's. These have been complied from various souces on the internet as well as the owners manual.
All are provided as reference only, use at your own risk. I cannot provide any technical support if something does or doesn't work on your vehicle. I am not responsible for any issues that could go wrong.

How to enable tilt mirror function. (both side mirrors tilt down when shifted in R)
1. Go to the ECM screen
2. Select "RCU Details"
3. Select "More Options"
4. Mirror tilt function is at the bottom of the list
If these directions do not work, try these:
1. Vehicle Preparation
2. Tilt mirrors in reverse feature
OR
1. ECU View
2. MSMD
3. Misc. Functions
4. Tilt mirrors in reverse feature
5. Start
6. Next
7. Enable
8. Finish

How to enable front Seat Video
1. Connect StarScan
2. ECU view
3. Radio
4. Misc. Functions
5. Enable/Disable Front Seat Video
6. Select Enable or Disable as desired
7. Select "Finish" to exit

How to enable Foglights with highbeams
1. ECU view
2. FCM/GCW
3. Misc. Functions
4. Enable front fog lamp output
5. Start
6. Next
7. Disable
8. Next
9. Cancel
10. Start
11. Next
12. Enable
13. Next
14. Export
15. Next
16. Finish

How to disable seat belt Chime:
1. Turn ignition to the OFF position and buckles the driver's seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ACC/ON position (engine does not need to be running), and wait for the seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least 3 times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.
4. Turn the ignition to the OFF position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.
Note: The reminder can be re-enabled by repeating this procedure. Even with this reminder disabled, the seat belt light will be illuminated while the driver's seat belt is unbuckled.

How to disable/confirm Oil change
1. Turn key to the ON position
2. Depress the pedal three times within 10 seconds.
3. Repeat if necessary.

Re: High beams with fog lights

I see you have an '08 WK. That fog enable sequence may only work for WK Grand Cherokees not for the WK2 (2011~2014 Grands) I'm trying to make this work on.
Totally different electrical architecture.
The seat belt chime and oil use indicator reset will however work on WK2's as they do not require a StarScan tool.

Re: High beams with fog lights

i believe there was a thread on this a while back. Some1 did do this but only with a starscan which set it to export mode.

I would say just hit up another dealer. I be worried with the control modules if you attempt to do some custom wiring.

May i ask how much the dealer charge you to do the mirror tilt when in reverse?

Re: High beams with fog lights

That they did for free. The dealer used a "StarMobile" tool. From what I've been reading, that tool may have to be plugged into a laptop to enable the export modes.
