How to unhook my Security system?

I am new to the site and have had trouble searching online for the correct answer so thank you for any info you can give.
I have 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4wd limited V8. My alternator went up and drained my battery. After getting this all fixed when I get it back from the dealer my key fob would not work and my tire senser gage did not work. When I manualy open the vehicle with my key the alarm goes off. When I took this back to get fixed they said that the electronic piece that controls this got fried when my battery drained and its 650 to get fixed. I am only keeping this another year and trading up for a new one. Can anyone tell me how to un-hook the sec. system so I can unlock my jeep w/ the key without setting the alarm off? Or rectifying the problem.

Re: How to unhook my Security system?

I don't think you can do it. I think what they want to replace is the Wireless Control Module (WCM), sometimes called the SKey REmote Entry Module (SKREEM). This is an integral component and with it not working or disconnected, you flat will not be able to start the vehicle. If there is a way to bypass it, you'll need to have a detailed circuit diagram and some real good electrical/electronic knowledge.

You may want to check the internet for this part and install it yourself. It will then need to be programmed (at the dealer or by someone with a good computerized diagnostic scanner with this capability) with the VIN, key programming, TPMS info., etc. Good luck with this one.

Re: How to unhook my Security system?

It sounds like you can still drive the vehicle, as you took it back to the dealership, correct?

The post above is spot-on, it is not possible to easily bypass this system. Additionally, if I knew of a way, I would be hesitant to post it, as this would be posting a how-to on defeating the security system on our vehicles.

That all being said an alternate option is to manually lock and unlock the doors rather than using the power locks and/or FOB. This will prevent the alarm system from being turned on to start with, hence it will not go off when you unlock the jeep. That may get you through the year until you trade it in. Other than that, replacement, as suggested above is the way to go.

One more thing, I would ask additional questions as to how the SKREEM was fried by a drained battery. It would seem far more likely to suffer a power surge when they were working on it...IMO.

Thank you for the feedback. As I looked into it more it seems there is no way of doing so. Look like I will be doing the manual thing.
