Re: I think my heatercore is leaking .

Well i just finished and only pulled the pass side lower dash , cut/ drilled the spot welds on the support/ changed the heater core , aluminum lines and new o rings... Then bolted the dash support back together .. Took about 2 hrs .. can prob do it now in under a hr .. So much easier not pulling the dash .

would have welded it back together but i made peices out of sheet metal and used self tapping screws to hold it together just in case i have to pull it apart again.

Re: I think my heatercore is leaking .

Opening an old thread here...
Last winter my carpet was soaked and I figured it was my heater core, took it all apart to find a pinhole in the aluminum pipes. I searched everywhere including dealers and couldnt find the pipes, so I JB welded the pinhole. A year later now and its leaking again so now I want to replace the tubes, so to anyone whos done this before, where did you find the pipes? Or whats the part number? Dealer was of no help again as usual.

Re: I think my heatercore is leaking .

I have a 2010 GC with 90,000 miles. My heater core is just starting to go.... windshield slightly foggy with antifreeze smell in the cab.

The floor isn't wet so I'm thinking it's just a small pinhole.

I'm dreading this project.

Re: I think my heatercore is leaking .

Dealer just replaced mine at 98K miles - had whitish drip marks on the tranny tunnel carpet on the passenger side.

Thank you extended warranty!!

Re: I think my heatercore is leaking .

Since mine was replaced about a month ago I still smell kind of a musty smell when I turn on the blower fan. The carpet is dry and the windshield doesn't fog anymore so I'm sure the core is just fine. Will that smell ever go away? Has anyone else experienced that and if so, what did you do about it?

Does it smell sweet like anti freeze?

If not it may be the AC condenser getting musty. Try blasting your heat with the AC on to clear up any condensation in there. You can also throw on recirc and spray some Lysol into the recirculation intake.
