Idle issue???

So in my 06 4.7 wk I've been having this issue for about a week now it will idle at about 500-600 normally then it will rev and go over 1000rpm my buddy who's a mechanic says it should be nothing because the jeep runs great my only concern is it could be something and I'd rather dump a little money now before I have to dump a lot of money later. Anyone got anything on why it could be doing this?

Re: Idle issue???

Iac sensor, tps sensor, throttle body cleaning. Few things I could suggest trying. I have an idle issue to that's completly different from yours. My idle surges but only after its rained outside. I suggest you try those sensors first. I have an 09 so our jeeps are a little different.

Re: Idle issue???

I would clean the IAC stepper motor plunjer and air canal first. If that doesn't help, then its probably the TPS getting bad.
