Question Ignition Switch on 05 WK 5.7

I have a question some may thing its stupid some may not but on my way to work this morning i was driving then all of a sudden my dash lights all come on as if i had just started my truck but i was already running doing 60 on the highway. I thought maybe the ignition switch so i move the key slightly to the left and right when it went right slightly towards the ON position it flashed the lights when i moved it left everything stayed fine no light restart. I am leaning towards the ignition switch i would like some feedback for this also i know how the ignition switch is tied into alot on my 05 WK so is it just as simple as replacing the ignition switch and have a new key work will i need a new fob and have some programming issues

Re: Ignition Switch on 05 WK 5.7

Let me guess? The gauges died briefly too and everything mechanically was running properly too?

Its a faulty ignition switch and known to do this. Mine use to do it but hasnt in a couple of years. Knocking the key will set it off. An easy work around would be to keep keys on the key ring to a minimum.

Yea that's what happens i do keep my keys to a min i have my truck key and my fathers share house key. The previous owner may have been different. but as for replacement is it just as simple as a swap out

Wouldnt know. Dont quote me but I think there was a recall on it. I know a few members have had it replaced.

Re: Ignition Switch on 05 WK 5.7

Fairly certain you do not need new keys/fobs in conjunction with a new ignition switch.

Re: Ignition Switch on 05 WK 5.7

My 2007 does exactly the same. I wonder if it's sensible to replace it with a new OEM part since the original parts obviously have lousy quality, maybe it's better to buy an aftermarket one form an other manufacturer?

Re: Ignition Switch on 05 WK 5.7

the main reason this happens is some people have HUGE key rings the chinese switch cant handle the weight. also, people have been know to hit the keys with their knees.

if you search there are manual pages and pictures here somewhere.

its a very popular mod esp. 05-06 "D
