Exclamation Jeep Compass Rear Humming @ 60mph

My Jeep Compass has started to make a humming noise in the rear (sounds like right rear) when I reach 60mph. It sounds as if I am going over a speed bump except there is no rattling, shaking, vibrating involved. Only the humming noise and it will happen intermittently. It is not constant. I notice the noise becoming more prominent when I an taking a curve that requires me to turn the wheel a bit to to the right. It is a pretty well maintained vehicle. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the issue? Any help is appreciated!!

Sounds like classic wheel hub/bearing issues. It is most likely the left side, as you hear the noise when turning right. When replacing, you'll want to do the other side as well (if one side goes, the other is likely to fail soon as well).

Thank you so much for the reply! After some intense googling- I concluded it may be a wheel bearing issue, so thank you for validating Is this an issue that needs immediate attention, or will I be okay getting it into my mechanic on the 21st?

Once you find these things, it's always tough to say that you'll be fine leaving it.

I know people that have gone hundreds (and even thousands) of miles with a worn bearing. Doesn't mean it'll always last that long or that it is a good idea.

If you are driving anywhere where you wouldn't want to get stranded if it gets worse, I would get it fixed. If you are only driving short distances in town where you could get it towed if need be, I might risk it.

Makes sense! Luckily I have AAA if (God forbid) anything should happen--again, I really appreciate the feedback!
