Re: jeep surge idle

Update: looks like the jeep is now idling at its normal 600rpm. I didn't touch anything. Seems like it just fixed itself? Was idling a while at 550rpm but now it's back at 600. Pretty cool

Re: jeep surge idle

Update: unbelievable i can't wait to get rid of this piece of crap. Road is wet today after a little rain and it starts surging. I have had it with this jeep. This never ends and I have literally tried everything to fix this issue but of course the problem persists. Gonna start looking on trading it in within the next year. I don't enjoy driving a car that looks like it's about to stall every time there's a little bit of water on the ground

Have you replaced the throttle body? If not that may resolve your issue

Re: jeep surge idle

I've noticed theres no shaky idle when its 70 degrees out or even in the 60s. Seems to be a very smooth quiet idle so it seems like heat is its friend. Doesn't solve the surge of course but dropping down to 550 rpm with the constant vibrations was the other thing

Re: jeep surge idle

Update: Hey guys, I know its been a while since I last gave an update regarding my idle issue in the rain but I've been busy these past 2 months with work related things. Anyways, about a week ago I was able to look at the Jeep again and decided to wrap the wire harness going to the throttle body with electrical tape. The harness is already insulated with a tube but i decided adding tape around it couldn't really hurt. So far I have tested it twice this past week in heavy rain and on a wet road. It still surges but WAY less. When I was driving for 2 hours the other night, it surged a total of about 4 times throughout the entire night and thats with rain heavy rain and roads wet. Ive decided to leave the tape on because it seems to have helped. Before I placed the tape on the harness. It was a constant surge every other stop. Now it barely happens so I'm definitely on to something with the harness I believe. I opened up the tube that surrounds the harness and all the wiring looks good but I believe if it was replaced the surge would stop. Its not something that needs to be done asap and I'm still looking to trade in the jeep for a new wk2 next year but in the meantime, curious to know what you guys think. Appreciate it and il keep you updated if anything else.

Re: jeep surge idle

Apparently I have learned recently that in foggy weather with the roads dry, it will surge. I'm starting to think this is an air problem

Re: jeep surge idle

But foggy weather has a high humidity, so could still be moisture related.
