I don't have a long thread on idle issues, but there may be a few things to look at. I did see you changed a lot of things like tha cams but did you replace the cam sensor as well? Cam and crank sensors must be changed together as they must be in sync with each other.

Do you have a fastman tb on it? If so check that all the bolts are tight.

Even mine fluctuates but only about 50 to 100 every now and again. Some fluctuations is normal in theses engines but not to the extent you are experiencing.

Probably cant hurt to look into a new tb or have the ECT modual tested

I changed my cam sensor on Tuesday and then changed the crank sensor yesterday so in between a 2 day cycle. You think they are still in sync now? Have disconnected the battery when I changed each one:

It's interesting that me and him have the same exact issue and I've changed all the same parts as well, and when the temps are under 40f does it idle correctly. So weird...

Thanks. Think it would be a good idea to replace the engine coolant temp sensor also? Was gonna replace it with this one:

Re: jeep surge idle

Haven't been on here in a few days to update. Temperature has been in the 50s to 60s range and jeep has not surged once. In fact, it hasn't surged for a whole week since last Monday. On Tuesday I replaced the camshaft sensor and ever since doing that, there hasn't been a surge so I'm 98% sure that was what was causing the surging issue. Changed the crankshaft sensor and iat sensor in good will, but that camshaft sensor seemed to have done the trick. Again not giving my hopes up but if it hasn't done it for a whole week (and I've tested the idle numerous times throughout the week) then I think it might be safe to say problem solved

Let me know how it goes with yours boomer
