just filled the tank, fuel gauge only shows half way ?

What sup my fellow Jeepers, first post and could really use some help. Went to the pumps today to give the JGC some lovely pony juice, filled her right up. problem is i get back in turn the car on and the fuel gauge only fills half way, so i turn her off and turn her on again and same thing. i start to pull out and wham bam she's showing full. i kept driving and all of a sudden the EVIC went from 400 to empty to 300 to empty and settled at 200 to empty ( half tank) i called my mechanic and him and i both agree that its not the fuel pump itself but the actual floater. called the dealership they quoted us 400 just for the part. is this something easy to change i know the tank itself needs to be dropped.

also i apologize ahead of time for the long read and if i posted to the wrong section. i search through the forums and came up blank just so stuff on the ZJ's

Eventhough it can be the floater assy itself, it could also be a wiring problem. Some moisture or corrosion in a connector can cause funny readings.

Just changed the fuel pump. Start to finish took about 2 hours. Now the running a delphi fuel pump no issues , it is a little louder when priming but nothing to crazy . Also took a look at the ball joints need new lowers and one upper ball joint next weekend project here i come
