Key fob issue

So lately my key fob works everytime except in the morning it takes forever to unlock my jeep; and I have to get it to lock and then unlock it. And it has been taking several minutes to get it to do anything.

I'm going to get a new battery this weekend.

But was wondering if that is my issue or if it could be something else.

Re: Key fob issue

These key fobs are junk. I have been dealing with this for the past few years. The tabs that contact the battery tend to weaken over time which sometimes causes issues - I tried to fix with soldering but that didn't work too well. I had the dealer look at the Jeep because I too was experiencing intermittent "not unlocking" issues, but they claimed they could not replicate and everything was working as it should. I experience this mainly when I have been driving awhile and then stop someplace for a few minutes (say to get gas) and then when I try to unlock the door I have to push the button 20-30 times before it activates (or unlock the door manually and set the alarm off). Very frustrating and very embarrassing when you are standing there beside the driver's door going "click, click, click, click, etc."

Even ordered a cheap set off of fobs off of eBay - one would lock and unlock without me touching it; the other wore out after a few months of use.
