Re: Little Tricks/Hidden Features...

Do you guys know about the secret "rough surfaces" on the exterior of the WK that can be used as a temporary cup holder?

Yes. The directions are in your owners manual if you forget how to do it.

Re: Little Tricks/Hidden Features...

Hey guys, thought i'd add these on here. On our WK's there is a small flat surface right next to our windshield wipers on the outer edges just above the front fenders. The surface is rough and is GREAT to use as a cup holder for your coffee when getting out of your car and you gotta put your wallet, keys, cell phone, etc ... basically ALL YOUR JUNK away.

its my secret cup holder!!!

Is that the 2 choices? The gps screen also doesnt have a night setting that I can find like most gps' from around that era that go blue or black for a background at night.
What SoundFXin3D said about the interior light is right, on the headlight/signal light lever:

- first click: all interior lights ON, display full ON and nav full ON
- second click: interior light OFF, display full ON, nav fu ON
- third click: interior lights OFF, display full ON, nav nightmode (dimmed)
- every other subsequent clicks will gradually dim the display

If that doesn't work there is a automatic brightness that needs to be turned on. In the nav menu, go to "system setting", "brightness", change the mode to "manual control", chose "daytime colors", choose the desired brightness level from 1 to 10 (i have mine at 5), now choose "nighttime colors" and pick a level (mine is 5 also but is a lot darker on night), then change the "mode" back to "automatic" and click "done".

Let us know what you find.

Re: Little Tricks/Hidden Features...

For the "key trick" to work; you have to toggle from all the way off to on, maybe you were going from acc to on?

Re: Little Tricks/Hidden Features...

Another cool thing... If your sunroof does not close flush to the roof try this:
Turn ingnition on
push center button on sunroof control to open vent
push center button again and hold for ~3 seconds.
This will recalibate the sunroof and it will close nice and flush!!!

With the ESP on with a 4" lift, I could not do a u-turn, the Jeep would come to a shuddering halt. With it off, completely, absolutely zero input from the ESP.
Does this work on the srt? I can't get it to disable on mine.

No. You have to pull the fuse.

UCONNECT – Switching a call to the handset for privacy, Press the Voice Recognition UConnect button on mirror and say Transfer Call.

NAV – Using with radio’s steering wheel buttons,
  • Holding down the middle Right button for about 2 seconds will enable the NAV screen.
  • When prompted to hit enter select the middle Left button.
  • Navigate through the menus with the up & down Left side buttons and select with the middle button.

Note : When the steering controls are enabled, you will see a small steering wheel icon at the bottom right hand corner next to the time.

EVIC - To display codes, Turn your key on and off three times without starting the vehicle and at the end of the third you should either get the code(s) or "DONE".
That info is invaluable as I must have enabled my nav. system via steering wheel controls. I could not for the life of me figure out why I ws in that mode when I tried to switch back to my normal view. Another duh moment was when I accidently pushed the menu button on the steering wheel and put my display in a "system o.k." view. Finally figured out and now is showing temp. and compass point as normal.

If you turn your key to the on position and take your seat belt, click it in and out 3 times real quick... this should eliminate the ANNOYING beeping noise from passengers that dont click their seat belts!!

I did it on my Jeep so I know it works... but I also remember it taking me several tries to get it right. After you do it, there should be a single ding and you turn your car off... then start it and go for a test drive with someone sitting in the front without their seat belt on to test it out. ( no i will not be responsible for the idiot that crashes and tells me its my fault he didn't have his seat belt on )
trying this as soon as I get home
