Re: Miles to empty

all chyrsler's I have ever driven that has the dte ( distance till empty) have added like 10-15 miles after I parked and got back back in later on. The only thing you going to be able to do to save your gas mileage is keep your foot off the gas, or trade it for a 4 cylinder.

Re: Miles to empty

I don't think 10.2 is normal. Sounds like you need a tune up. For starters turn your key over three times quickly and see if you have any codes stored. Check you spark plug gaps, see if they are corroded. They should be .045 gap and the firing pin should be really square and not corroded. first time changing or pulling them will take you two hours, but after you get the hang out of it it will become second nature. Air filter is easy to check also, pop off the clips and see if it is really dirty. Throttle body is next, remove the huge plastic resonator, unclipping the air intake temp sensor. you can access the throttlebody. You don't even have to remove the throttlebody for inspection, push the blade open and see if it is caked with oil on back side. If it is just undo the four bolts and electrical connection and take it off. Use a rag and brake cleaner to wipe away the grime, being careful not to saturate it with too much cleaner. Next, pcv valve should be inspected. Pop it out and listen for a rattle when you shake it.

Re: Miles to empty

Beyond that, tranny and differential oils should be inspected and check for proper level and quality of oil. The torque converter oil level is good to check also. I believe it takes 1.9 quarts of 245/247/249 fluid. These oil levels are harder to check. Tranny oil and two filters should be changed from 30k-50k, differential oils 20-30k, and torque converter oil from 30-50k.

Proper tire pressure is also very important. Alignment could be off.

Re: Miles to empty

Pcv valve takes 1 minute to Change and inspect. The throttlebody takes five minutes to remove and 10 to clean. A can of brake cleaner is cheap and new pcv valve is 20-30 dollars.

Re: Miles to empty

Plugs would be an hour or two of dealer work... Probably looking at over 150. The tools needed to do the work are like $20 and plugs will run $3-5 apiece for 16.

Re: Miles to empty

The dealer will say the throttlebody is not a piece that can be cleaned, they will gladly sell you a new one. But we have all been cleaning them for years without problem
