Moonroof not leaking, but POURING.

Hello. Does anyone have experience dealing with water pouring in from a moonroof, or have a link to somewhere that does?

The moonroof on my '07 Grand Cherokee Limited has had a leak for awhile. I took it through an automatic car wash yesterday and the water was POURING in. Literally. As if someone was pouring water from a bottle, with steady streams of water flowing in. This seems to me like plugged up drains, not a bad seal itself, but how would I know for sure? The drain holes had nothing in them where I could see, but I don't know what I should use to try and 'snake' out a possible clog. How delicate is the drainage route? Is it a hose or something like a gutter for the water to run through? Anyone with some sun/moonroof knowledge would be greatly appreciated!! Or if anyone knows of a video, or write-up that thoroughly explains what I should do about this. I'm telling you, it was seriously POURING in! It was crazy! It started instantly, during the first pass of the pressure sprayer. I just had to wait it out and watch my interior take it all! Please help? Thanks?

Re: Moonroof not leaking, but POURING.

I actually clipped the bottom of the lines off, follow this video here, for whatever reason the drain lines are taspered at the bottom. Road gunk + crap from the trees going down the drains clog them.

Once I did this, and the 5 second push on the button trick to reset the moon roof, everything was fine.

To recalibrate the sunroof you:

1: hit "vent" button till goes to full vent then release button

2: hit vent button 2nd time, for 5 seconds

It will then recalibrate itself...

Thanks. I ended up finding these remedies and did them both. The drains weren't plugged up, but I clipped them anyway, then I noticed the monroof had a gap in the back when it was "closed." I recalibrated it and now it closes flush. Hopefully no more leaks.

Awesome! Hope it works. I knew about this, and planned on doing anyway even though I didn't have a problem. I waited, and one day after some snow melted, I literally had 4-5" of water in my drivers foot well. Ugh. Freezing cold out, bailing water out of my truck with a sippy cereal bowl, at night, before we went bowling. It was miserable. I should have just taken care of it preemptively.

Re: Moonroof not leaking, but POURING.

I had a 2004 Grand Cherokee Limited and never had a leak. I bought a 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited just a few weeks ago and found out this one has a leak. I'm hoping these easy fixes cures the problem. I LOVE the 2005 over my 2004. My Gosh what a world of difference. My 04 had 204911 miles on her and was still going strong. Problem is I had a wreck. I love this 4.7L engine in both the 04 and now in 05.
