need help guys....

So, the Jeep was rear-ended while at the drive-up window ordering cheese burgers. Factory Hitch took the brunt, the bumper cover was not so lucky. The girl that hit the jeep, was going fast enough to push the jeep forward about 6 inches(could see the marks on the concrete). Her Honda accord didnt have a good night, and so far it turning into an expensive visit to McD's for her.

Its been 8 days since it was hit. Because of the holiday I just dropped it off at the bodyshop yesterday. My wife is the primary driver but I drove it this past weekend. There is a hum at about 30-35mph only when you let off the peddle. Sounds like its coming from the rear, almost like a wheel bearing or the backlash in the ring and pinion. Seemed to get worse as the weekend went along. Talked to the shop today and they said nothing is bent/tweaked with the frame.

Now the question the needs help......

Re: need help guys....

I don't see how any low speed impact transferred through a plastic bumper cover and hitch could affect any rear end bearing. Especially for bearing failure being decently common on the WK, ok "common" may not be the right word, but uncommon doesn't really describe it either.

The rear end is likely due for some bearings.
