I have a 08 4.7L wk. so I got the recall letter in the mail today about the transfer case actuator electrical problem. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.
So the letter states "the software required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition is currently not available". Says when it's available, ill get another letter in mail and then can take it to the dealer for free fix. But it also states "in the meantime, you can eliminate the risk of unintended vehicle movement by applying the parking brake after parking the vehicle".
HERE'S MY ISSUE NOW:
I put the parking break up after I parked... No parking brake light in the dash came on at all. Anyone know if that's normal? Is that just an electrical thing? Is my parking break actually applied? How could I tell? I don't want my WK rolling away on me bc of this recall.

Help would be appreciated!

Re: NO Parking Brake Light

Brake to a stop, keep the car in gear, apply the parking brake and SLOWLY take your foot of the brake.

If the parking brake is applied, you shouldn't begin to roll forward unless you hit the accelerator.

You should also be able to feel the parking brake engage as you pull up on the handle, but if it has never worked you might not know what it is supposed to feel like...

That all makes perfect sense. Thanks. Guess I wasn't thinking. It's just a sensor issue I guess then. Meh, that's not too important. I'll have it looked at whenever they fix my recall lol
