Well I took a dremel to the metal where the ground connects and mad sure it was bare metal and no paint left I even hit the ground on the relay too. I put the ground from the relay against the bare metal. I'll see if this works.

Re: Oem HID Projector headlight issues

so new ballasts, new bulbs? Its gotta be in the wiring or something loose etc. Maybe clean the connectors that plug into the bulbs?

New relays, new ballast on driver side(that's the side that has issue), swapped bulbs. Re-wired the wires coming from ballast on headlight to the pig tail. Sanded down ground connection.
I did get it to flicker the night I sanded down ground connection point but not since. Every time I try to take a video it won't flicker. Lol grrr

Re: Oem HID Projector headlight issues

weird...and the pass side doesnt do it at all? Gotta be something internal in the headlight(wiring from ballast to bulb)

Re: Oem HID Projector headlight issues

I don't believe the passenger side has flickered. I thought it may have a few times when the driver side went out but its hard to tell cause the few times I thought it might have happened I didnt have anything directly in front of me to tell if the passenger side has flickered.

When I ordered the new ballast they did supply a wiring harness as well but, the wire that connects to the bulb is way too short and theres no way I could use the new wiring harness. I did try to remove the old harness from the headlight but there was no way it was coming out without breaking open the headlight.

The only good news is it has not flickered since Sunday night. But I think thats because I keep trying to take a video of the light flickering.

Re: Oem HID Projector headlight issues

I finally got a video of the headlight flickering this morning. Sorry for the quality, the video was taken with my iPhone.

Re: Oem HID Projector headlight issues

Yup pretty much. Now the light is completely out. I may have burned out a bulb with all the flickering. I am gonna swap bulbs tonight.

The video above I saw the light flicker right away then I started to take a video with the phone and I pulled up on the window switches and you can see it looks like it goes totally out. I got to turn back on by turning my headlights on and off. And the headlight came back on at least for a little bit. But by the time I got to work it was out. I went out on lunch to see if it would come on but now it stays out.

I'm even thinking about buying a whole new light. I saw on am-autoparts.com they sell the headlight and in one pic it shows the HID wiring harness but doesn't say anything about the wiring harness to the ballast. I know it doesn't come with the ballast but I already got a brand new ballast so just the wiring harness is the issue. I can't use the wiring harness from the new ballast because the wire that attaches the bulb to the harness is too short.

I have it apart now. It was a burnt out bulb.
Now just trying to figure out where this short maybe. I'm thinking maybe the wires from the ballast wire harness. I wish the wire harness they sent me was long enough to reach the bulb.

Re: Oem HID Projector headlight issues

Well after talking to Scott about the issue I am having we determined that it had to be the wiring inside the headlight. So I ordered a new headlight from am-autoparts.com and installed it last night. Well im still having the flickering issue. This morning it did its normal routine of flickering then going out. I'm wondering if this a senor issue of some sort or a computer issue.

This morning it did seem to flicker when I let off the gas. But that could be a coincidence.

Any ideas?

Re: Oem HID Projector headlight issues

bump.

The flickering occurs every morning like clock work. Otherwise at random times.
