Did you remove the front skid plate before draining the oil?

If it's not leaking from the filter or plug, it could very well be a couple of drips of old oil that made it to the exhaust.

The first 3 times the oil was xchgd I had no problem. This time I sense the skid plate got a good dose of draining oil. I tried pressure washing it off but still some odor. Should I remove the plate and wipe it clean ? Looks like 4 bolts is all. This work was done at the dealer.

Only the 2 back bolts have to come out. The front two can just be loosened. Once the front is loose, you can slide the skid plate forward and it'll drop right down. Once you're under there you'll see.

I would drop it and wipe it down - there are lots of sections under the skid plate that oil can pool up in that a pressure washer may not be able to get to.

Thank you for your advise. I've just about given up on the dealer and I think I will clean the pan up myself per your suggestion. It looks like I won't need to raise the vehicle very much if at all to get to it. You know the old saying, "if you want something done right, do it yourself".

Per one of your kind suggestions (Dr.?) I had the dealer remove the oil pan rock guard. Sure enough the bottom inside of the guard was caked with semi burnt on oil residue. When the cat. conv. got hot it was if you had left a fry pan on the stove. After they cleaned the guard (it was really baked on) No more smell. I made a warning label for the engine air intake to not drain the oil without removing the rock guard.
