Question P2096 & p2098

I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 4.7L PowerTech V8. It has sat idle for almost a year while I have been recovering from a Stroke. Now I am getting Both a P2096 and P2098 codes after having replaced one of the catalytic converters due to a failure that is now in question actually.

It now starts to stumble and hesitate until I rev. the engine up for a second, and then it sometimes sets the above codes and runs as smooth as ever.

I am trying to figure out what simple solution might cause these codes to show up together. I've heard that an exhaust leak from re-installing the O2 sensors might be causing this? Are there any other ideas as well?

I am trying to find a way to seal the O2 Sensors in place as I don't have any gaskets or any other item. Where can I get "Seals" from? I am just looking for a direction to proceed as I really enjoy the challenge and reward from figuring this one out. Help?

Re: P2096 & p2098

Sorry to hear about the stroke, congrats on the recovery, hopefully its only up from here!

Have you burned through the entire tank of fuel that has been sitting in it? if not do that before you worry about these. fill up with top tier fuel (google top tier fuel if you dont know what that is). if its still hit or miss run at least that full tank of fresh fuel then start focusing on figuring out this problem.

The o2 sensors use crush washers to seal, your not even going to be able to get the crushed washers off the o2 let alone replace them so we will assume for right this moment that the seal is fine.
