Power steering pump 2005

yup it went bye bye my pops was driving the jeep cause his suburban just went into the chevy dealership for the tranny slipping last friday. so i get a call informing me what had happened yesterday.

had my local guy come pick it up from the driveway to check it out yesterday but he said he cant do anything for me so i had AAA tow it to the dealership. dealership said the pump went and is being changed as we speak. im not surprised by the pump as its the original pump from 05 and the jeep has over 100K on it.

either way, im sure this happened to one or two of you before. care to drop some input in here

i feel bad for my pops though, hunting season and all and he got no ride to bring him up to the mountains.

Re: Power steering pump 2005

if its the hemi.......the pump also runs the fan so it gets LOTS of use and heat. so more susceptible IMO.

sorry for Pops though

Nice guy you are lending the SRT to the pops He drives an 05 limited? and has a burban for backup is that right?

Well I say you tell him to trade both and grab the new SRT8 or an Overland Summit so he cant us it to hunt in mountains and have a reliable daily - ultimate win

well my pops is a big chevy guy, hes been a suburban since they debuted- seriously. haha. we had every color every make to this current yr. although he lost a lot of faith in chevy when they did that 4-6-8 crap in his burban. hills suck in the burban for power now. before you could at least throw it in 3 and get moving but not anymore.

anyways the 5.7 limited is mine- sort of. my mom flipped my snow car (96 ZJ) - yeah, shes ok though!- and i got reinburst for 4Gs then just put it on the WK 5.7 with my pops. so its ours but i barely use it. i just like to have a snow beater for when i go to my house. my pops uses the jeep for the trails to the cabin- he loves it.

and he wont drive my SRT8- one day i know hell take my offer to floor it hes just soo conservative now. his go fast days are wayy behind him. i know he knows whats up and is happy to see me happy with the jeep and thats all that matters really.

and yes you guessed it- my mom isnt allowed with in2 feet of my SRT8!! -

update-

$460 dollars later and jeep is back to normal.

more updates- after my pops got to see how my touch screen MyGig works and functions in my 010 SRT8... hes now demanding that i get him my radio in the 5.7- lolz

i shouldnt have said anything about being able to swap out radios- hahha. hes talking camera hook up and sat etc... slow down, ill get on it for you. hes not kidding either. he hates the buttons and the screen in his 05.

haha nice, glad shes fixed. And its always good to see when the rents know whats up with the Jeeps, especially the SRT8 I been trying to get my pops to check them out forevverrrr but he doesn't have much interest in any motor stuff if it aint a 60s vette or camaro or anything drag related. He knows they're quick but I dont think he has any idea of just how quick they can be with some boltons

Its funny cause my mom is always like I saw that Jeep again, the fast one with the shiny wheels and the exhaust in the middle, yeah looks cool! LOL, like yeah thanks for the head up maaa haha

But as far as my pops goes, probably good he doesn't take a ride in one and pop the hood cause I know if I got him into one he'd immediately rip the 6.1 out for a stoked 392 or maybe a big 440 and then probably drop blower on top with all kinds of work and he do it just to be working on it lol, man how much fun that would be

Re: Power steering pump 2005

hahah yeah. i tried to reil him in with the HP bit- then he gets all sarcastic sayin... yeah i know its fast. you mentioned that. believe me that i believe you- its yours so have fun.

hes been through this before. he knows its just a car and its just fun and games until someone gets hurt. although i can not sit here and say ive never got the pep talk about being easy with pedal and such. he knows im pretty good about acting my age but he also knows i bought this car TO GO FAST. cant lie, i appreciated the talk even though im not reckless about it.
