Problem with Limited Hemi

The problem I have is when Jeep is warmed up I am not sure if the transmission is shifting from 4th to 5th and back to 4th. It fills like a rumble coming from the front. It starts to happen at around 40 to 60 mph. If I give it gas it stops, I am still new to this jeep and don't know if it is the MDS system engaging and disengaging or the transmission?

Re: Problem with Limited Hemi

Sounds like MDS, though in comparison to most reviews, i find my MDS transition to be quite smooth.

Re: Problem with Limited Hemi

Would the MDS system send a code if it's not engaging correctly?

Re: Problem with Limited Hemi

Mine used to do this and it was the U-Joint on the front drive shaft. when i gave it gas it stopped and when i let off the gas it stopped. They say the ujoints are not serviceabe but the shop I went to ordered the correct UJoints and were able to get the old ones out and replaced. Drives amazingly smooth now.

Re: Problem with Limited Hemi

I now am sure it's the MDS system because I just got a check engine light for the 02 sensor. I have read that if there is a code sent that the MDS system will not engage. I have not had the problem since, am I correct in my conclusion?

Re: Problem with Limited Hemi

What can be done to the MDS system that would stop this problem?

For one-time test: Push Tow-Haul button -or- shift from D to 5 manually. It disables MDS.

This will last until next engine re-start. Then it re-sets.
