It seems to me that there's no way I can DIY program a brand new pod key to my 2010 grand cherokee, even though I have 2 functioning keys. I was just wondering if anyone else here had ever been able successfully program one without going to the dealership?

We just bought a used 2010 Grand Cherokee and couldn't program a new key either. (Also couldn't reset the oil change or the avg mpg but figured that was probably just me not understanding the 'online owners manual'). Had a fobik and called around but told only dealer could do it so we headed that way with a quote of $50 to program the fobik. Turns out what was to be a 1.5hr job turned into an overnight stay for the Jeep. They put it on the 'machine' and reprogramed the module and after more than 1 try, got it to take. Service rep said they'd seen it before but not often and my wife was the lucky one. All that time in the garage and they stood by the $50 cause they sure could have passed it off as something that wouldn't be covered under the 3/36.
