Question about the key(2005 WK)

When I purchased the vehicle, I only received one key. My question may sound a bit noobish, but I just want to be sure. In order to duplicate the key, would I be able to go to any place that copies keys, or would I have to get another key specifically coded from the dealership for my specific vehicle? I apologize if it sounds confusing. I ask because I want to install a full security system in the Jeep, and i've been told that I need two keys in order to have it installed. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to have a spare. Thanks in advance everyone.

Hey Alex. No, you have to buy it from a Jeep dealer. It also need to be programmed to your vehicle.

Re: Question about the key(2005 WK)

Check with local locksmiths/key places. I have some by me that are able to program keys. I had two made for my Ram. You can also get a key programmed with no fob. Then you wont have your factory fob and your alarm fob.

Ok thanks for the additional info. My Jeep currently has no fob or alarm at all, so that would make things easier right?

Yeah. It will definitely make your key chain less bulky.
