I have a rattling sound that comes in between 2700-3000 rpms under moderate load. Its like clockwork. Brought it to Jeep dealer (under warranty), they said it was "normal driveline noise". BS, because when I bought the Jeep it never made that noise. Also took it to my local indy shop, they kept the Jeep for two days and could not locate the noise either..........but said it is definitely NOT normal.

To me it sounds like a simple exhaust heatshield rattle, but weve checked and everything is tight.

Anyway, not trying to thread hijack.........just wondering what the symptoms of your noise is. Does it make the rattle when you are in park and rev the engine? Or only under acceleration? What rpm's do you notice it? Knowing this might help you narrow down where the issue is.

I have started having same issue, sounds like coming from front passenger side..only on acceleration and only ater sitting

I too have this same issue (metallic rattle on acceleration at around 2500 - 3500rpm). I have been up and down the exhaust with a rubber mallet, and have never been able to pin it down.

I've put approx. 45,000 miles on it since this started happening - so I've just learned to live with it.

Anyone have any updates on their rattling issues??

It is driving me absolutely insane. Ive taken it to the dealership I bought the Jeep from, and they state it is "normal drivetrain noises"........which is just bullshit.

I took it to an indy mechanic who I absolutely trust. He spent a good 7-8 hours on the truck, went up and down the underbody looking for anything that was loose and could not locate the rattle. He was so frustrated when he was done because he just couldnt figure it out.

I have been living with this for months but its really getting to me. A 2010 Jeep just shouldnt have this and it started with well under 20K miles on it.

Since I am under warranty, I am going to try another Jeep dealership and see how they do.

Anyone have any suggestions???

Its probably the catalytic converter.I have seen this a few times. You can probaly brake torque it and get the noise to happen. You can use a rubber mallet and beat it like it owes you money and it won't make a sound.Get the right load on it and it will be constant.

i think you may be right. its only at a certain load that it happens, and if i hold it there i can almost get it to be constant. yet my indy said with a rubber mallet he couldnt here a thing. i just would hate to pay the money to replace it without knowing its a sure thing. im under warranty so i am gonna try another dealership and see if they are willing to replace it.

Yeah, mine does the same rattle. Only accelerating from a cold start or accelerating from 5mph or less. Not consistent at all. Sounds like its coming from behind the radio or ac/heating unit. But no idea. I too have checked all the heat shields, etc. everything is tight. I'll look at the catalytic converter when it gets warmer out.

I just had my front diff mounts replaced on my 05 WK and it started making this same exact noise as described. I'm going to check my CAT and I'll let you know if it fixes it

Ouch! I was looking at my exaust manifold today and noticed one of the bolts that holds the heat sheild on was broken. It's a good possibility I have the same problem as you.

I have a rattling sound under any acceleration after it comes out of first after a start. This only has happened after I replaced my t-case so I just assumed it was that. I would love to find out it's only the exhaust.

It's very embarrassing to pull up to a crowd of people and instead of hearing the exhaust tone you hear a rattling.

If you need gaskets for both sides, that's about $500.

Fixed. My rattle was a loose front differential mount. Fixed in 10 minutes.

Anyone else figure out their rattles? I have the same thing. 2005 5.7L 113K miles. Only happens when it is cold out (20 degrees or less) and only under acceleration. If the jeeps is in Neutral or I brake stand it, I dont get the sound. When the Jeep is warm, the sound goes away.

Hi guys...had the same kind of sound...for me the fix was a new muffler. The baffles was shot and would make the noise. Keep in min to replace u need to do it from the cat back since the pipes and muffler are welded.

hope this helps
