Rear Binding - Multiple Warning Lights - Any Suggestions?

Hi All,

Two nights ago, was driving home and the ABS, ESP, BAS, traction control, and service 4wd system messages appeared. Made it home, researched online, seems to be a bad wheel sensor. Decided it wasn't serious and tried to drive to work the next morning.

When I attempted to drive, I got some serious binding from the rear and loud clunks. Was able to get to my local non-dealership mechanic.

Best they can figure, something is binding in the rear diff or TC. They said they can see the driverside rear wheel "jerking" instead of spinning.

Rear diff is full of fluid and Mopar friction modifier. Rear parking brake is not binding and main pads/calipers are fine. I can get in and out of 4wd despite the service 4wd system message.

Going to drive around more today and see if the problem lessens up after driving a bit.

Anyone have any suggestions or experience a similar issue? What fixed it for you?

2006 WK 5.7L Hemi w/ QDII, 141k on the clock. Thanks!

Excellent article. I just printed it out and will be taking to my local mechanic who has the Jeep. I'll be sure to post back any feedback or opinions I get. I don't know that the article is exactly the problem I am having. I am 100% certain that the clunking is coming from the TC and not the rear diff. Thanks!
