not on 06, you need to have a functioning key fob. i got stuck 2 hours from home once when the battery died on me. had to walk over a mile to find somewhere that sold the battery. then i had to disconnect the negative terminal for a few min to reset the system

fob yes, but the skim or sentury key only activates when "excited" by the win or skim module. How does your jeep run if you get a key with NO remote..... I have cut hundreds of keys with NO remote for people as lock outs to run the car with no remote..these keys have no battery and only a fob. I dont run bs tech... im telling ya you dont need a battery to run the car. You do need a battery for the fob operation to work but for the skim/sentury "secrete key datat" transmittal you dont.

my key got wet a few month ago when i fell into the sea. it worked for a few days but than packed up. if tried all sorts of tricks but the engine only runs for 2 sec and than dies. what could cause that, you think??
