Re: Replacing Center Console Lights...HELP!!!

Someone please forward this:

Diboblo, Please email me, the "contact" feature on your website is not enabled, I'm a new member without access to the PM feature. I have an 06 WK JGC and the lights are out on the info center bar (trip, mileage, etc), climate control assembly, and the bar below it w/heat warmers, pedal adjuster, traction control.

How much $ to change ALL the bulbs? Do you use bulbs or LED's? If using LED's do you add resistors? If you install bulbs are they longer life than the stock ones? Areextra bulbs available for separate sale so I have extras on hand? How long in days for turnaround as this is my only vehicle and living in N.J. we experience all types of weather? Please include your contact info and tel# or website link in PM.

I'm 48 and a bus/coach/diesel mechanic (now working foreman) since age 18 and can't for the life of me understand Mopars reason for making these lights unserviceable. All I know is every 4x4 I had since starting to drive in '81 has paled in comparison to my first ride a 1968 International Scout 4x4 with four cylinder and front hubs that had to be engaged at the wheel. Thanks, 68 Scout.

You can email me direct at R Z 350 X 2 at yahoo dot com

To those in the know, "YES" I did own one of those rice rocket Kenny Roberts Specials, an '85 Yamaha RZ350 (two stroke) lighter then it's competitors (aftermarket exhaust/shock) and so blindingly fast it could stand straight up in all six gears with just a flick of the wrist. The cylinders were bored .030 and I installed the one piece power valves.

Re: Replacing Center Console Lights...HELP!!!

You could post "Welcome" to memeber's in the new members forum. I can't remember how many post you need. Maybe like 10.

I know it's a pain but once you have access to PM's, you get a big limit of like 2,000 PM's.

Re: Replacing Center Console Lights...HELP!!!

Bob uses leds and his work is built to last so you will not need replacement bulbs. He might have a core hvac available to eliminate downtime. Post in the welcome threads to get your post count above ten and then send him a pm

Re: Replacing Center Console Lights...HELP!!!

I'm seeing conflicting info on this site as well as others as to whether the climate control, info center bar, and heat warmer/traction control lower bar light bulbs on my '06 Grand Cherokee Laredo are serviceable or not. I have no problem doing my own work with my background, my '98 Grand Cherokee Laredo almost never saw a shop, I did the brakes, radiator, water pump, shocks and all the tune-ups. The only thing it went out for was the exhaust manifold and exhaust system (I don't have a torch at home which is needed sometimes).

In preparation I purchased a pack of ten (10) PC-74 bulbs, I need to know whether I bought the correct bulbs. I have no problem replacing the bulbs in the future if they burn out it's just that I hate working with a soldering iron close to circuitry where a small glob of solder can damage the electronics should I go the LED route. In addition I don't want to remove the climate control assembly only to find I purchased the wrong bulbs and since I live in a rural area and tend to do my work late in the day or on weekends not all the auto parts stores are open as it was I had to have my local store order the PC-74 bulbs since they only had two in stock.

The PC-74 bulbs I bought already have the plastic bases on the bottom.

As for referencing the shop manual I downloaded online for the correct bulb size/number that's not going to work since the bulb info I need isn't included in the light bulb reference chart, it's an oversight which the editor should've never allowed to occur.

Re: Replacing Center Console Lights...HELP!!!

I can only assume if they match the ones currently on the board then they would work. We send our stuff to dibiblo because he uses leds and does great work for a great price.

I can also only assume that in a couplenofbyear those bulbs will burn out again and you'll have to do the whole process over again

Diboblo

Are you still able to 'fix' center colsole lights?

I have a 2007 CG with the vent control know side burned out. Of course dealership does not stcok and want way too much the the unit...for esentially a $3 bulb.

I will try and PM you but I need two posts. Rules!!

Thanks
David

Re: Replacing Center Console Lights...HELP!!!

Posting here because I'm new and I need another post before I can PM. I'm having the same issue with burned-out info center lights. All the lights on the HVAC panel are out, and the right half of the lights are out on the radio/CD console. I'll PM Diboblo as soon as I can!
