Replacing turn signal lever/switch

Hello all! The turn signal on my 08 wk has been functioning weird since we purchased the vehicle 14k miles ago. Here's the deal:

Mostly when signaling a lane change, or whenever I hold the turn signal switch briefly to signal a turn, not fully engaging it. Once I release the lever, the opposite signal will come on. It will sometimes stay on for a second, or until I mash the lever in all directions in frustration. I'm pretty sure this has freaked out people who are behind me... when I'm on an offramp and my left signal goes on just as they are about to pass.

Anyway, a new lever is like $30 (thankfully I don't have auto-headlights, as that is like $70!) so I figured I'd get a new one and swap it out. I'm mechanically inclined, however I do not have a garage, and the temp is in the teens... so I don't want to be out there any longer than I have to. I like figuring this stuff out on my own, but in this case, does anyone have a quick write-up as to what needs to come off in order to replace the lever/switch?

TIA

Re: Replacing turn signal lever/switch

I did it in 30 mins. Make sure you have the Fog Light switch on your Multi-Function Switch.

You will need a long screw driver that you can put a Torx head on. I don't know what size Torx head since this was a few months back. You need to torx head to take off the plastic that's behind the steering wheel were your Hazard Light Button is. There should be two underneath (One on each side). Take both pieces off and then all you have to do is unscew the two screws that are holding the Multi-Function Switch Base and slide and unplug it. Do these steps backwards when installing the new Multi-Function Switch and you'll be set!

Unplug your battery though just incase.

Re: Replacing turn signal lever/switch

Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds easy enough. I'm going with OE PRO Part # SM151 from RockAuto which has the fogs.
