Has anyone had a problem with the transmission not selecting low range on my grand cherokee.
When I selected low range error message comes up on dashboard service 4wd system and transmission will not shift in to liw range.
Just had jeep in for a manufacturer recall for software update to final drive

Well...I haven't had this issue with your GC. I'll have to drive it some more

Re: service 4wd system

There are already numerous posts about this... Evidently if the recall is not performed correctly it will cause this condition. I have not personally read the recall but from what I have gleaned the technician is supposed to clear the codes THREE times after performing the update and all is well. There are a bunch of people having issues, indicating there are many technicians not reading the recall. I would get it back ASAP and tell them your having problems, find some other posts about it and bring in a stack of complaints about 4wd low not working after the update and make them fix it.

Just had my GC back to the dealer for a diagnostic found that the software update hadn't gone right so they re did the update. All working ok now. But apparently jeep hq know about this problem with the software update.

Re: service 4wd system

Like I said, it was not a failure in the process of the flash, it was a failure in the techs ability to read instructions. The recall clearly states to clear codes 3 times. No other recall I performed at the dealer required this step so many just do the process they normally do... in this case causing your issue.

Glad to hear that fixed it!

Re: service 4wd system

I've had the same issue except mine is caused by a faulty encoder motor. Glad yours is a simpler fix
