Shifter Bezel issue

Hi All,
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this since I am fairly new to this forum but he goes; About a year and a half ago my '07WK 3.7L Laredo did the shifter bezel / ecm thing and the dealer replaced it under warranty. It is starting to act up again. I put my scanner on and pulled a U0404 code. Here is my question; does anyone no if this is a perpetual problem or if Jeep is looking at a fix or recall? Now that it is out of the bumper to bumper warranty I really don't relish the thought of changing a $500 part every year or so otherwise , next to my Corvette , I love this vehicle. Thanks for your suggestions / help!!

Re: Shifter Bezel issue

if you have the 4wd-LO its a bit difficult but without that its just the bezels around the shifter, the whole module lifts off 3 screws, there are writeups here. and wkjeeps.com has pictures.

if you have the LO switch the console MUST come off to get 2 extra screws out.

No LO - Full time 4WD. Once you pull that out is the board (the area to clean) exposed?
