My key fob sudenly stopped working today do now when I use the key to unlock the door manually the alarm goes off everytime someone ease help me stop this!!
Until you get things working with your key FOB, you can prevent the alarm from arming by not using the FOB or automatic door locks to lock the car, just use the manual door lock.
For the key FOB, I'd try the batteries first (start simple!).
Not sure about other systems, but I know my 2005 WK does not arm the alarm unless the power locks are used, or I use the key FOB. Manually pushing down the door lock plunger mechanically locks it, but doesn't arm the system.
This would be a terrible alarm if this^^ worked..................
Mine disables all electrical, including the ignition. I have to hold down a disarm button and simultaneously insert the key into the ignition then turn in order to disarm my alarm. When my key fob isn't working.
Mine is a factory installed alarm and i do have an option to put it into "valet mode."
Try putting the key in and then turning the they key from ACC -> ON, 3 times. You should hear 3 honks if done properly.
*IDK if yours is the same as mine, but it might work.
Yes the WCM prevents people from hotwiring a WK, without a proper key signal it wont let the vehicle run period. So back to what I said, without all the key dancing and button pressing mumbo jumbo, if you have a key you have a key, so you can disable the alarm with the key and drive away with a key in the ignition (good guy or bad), so the fact that the key in the ignition will disable your alarm being a bad idea... the bad idea is letting a thief find a key in the first place thats all Im getting at.
Both of my fobs are currently out of order. The battery holders have completely come undone. Tried to re-solder one and now the fob doesn't work at all. Not sure what happened. Now scared to solder the other.
Yes, you can just put the key in the ignition, but I still feel like a jerk having to set off my alarm every time I get in the car. Especially in the mornings; probably waking some people up.
Manually locking the doors is great. And then someone could just open your hatch and get in that way because there is no way to manually lock it.
For anyone who is curious, I found my own solution. Make sure you turn off the UNLOCK DOORS UPON EXIT function. This will allow you to manually unlock/lock driver door when exiting, while keeping all other doors including liftgate, locked. Next time you used your key to enter vehicle, alarm will not sound.
Does anybody know what ultimately controls the alarm? Reason I'm asking is because the fob I'm currently using works intermittently. I haven't opened it yet to determine if it's the battery holder or the battery itself that's causing the issue. When I can't get it to work, I unlock the door manually and begin to cringe as I expect the alarm to go off. However, sometimes to my surprise, it doesn't go off (while other times it does). Does anyone know why this would happen or how it's possible?
This morning for example...Fob wouldn't work. Red security light on cluster was flashing. Opened door manually. No alarm.
