Small popping noise coming from frontend

I have a 2005 Jeep grand Cherokee a 5.7 L. I'm getting a happy meal for my son I hear a small popping/clicking noise from the front end. So when I get home I put the car in drive and throw the E brake on to see if I can locate the noise. I found the noise coming from the front for the front Half of the 4 x 4. Bam. It's a small clicking/popping noise. I turn the vehicle off I still hear it. Is this major ?? The vehicle is on but not moving.

Re: Small popping noise coming from frontend

It sounds like it is your cats/exhaust system heating up and cooling down.

Nothing to be alarmed about.

It happens at 3 and 17 secs. It will continuously do that throughout driving the vehicle. It clicks even more when I turn off the vehicle it's not cooling down it's something In the electrical. Sometimes I think it's the starter because I had starter problems sometimes the car doesn't turn over. It clicks.

And you still hear the noise when the engine is off? If so, can you make a video from this?

Re: Small popping noise coming from frontend

As suggested above, if you can take the video without the vehicle running, it'll be a lot easier to hear.

If you really think it is electrical, disconnect the negative battery terminal and see if it still makes the noise.

That's what I'm thinking possibly a faulty starter

Re: Small popping noise coming from frontend

I listened to the video when the vehicle wasn't running.

Perhaps I'm not getting the full sound experience, but it still sounds like exhaust/cats cooling down to me.

That sounds no different than the noises mine makes (at least on the video).
