Stuck in 3rd gear with P 0700 code

Hey guys,

I have a 2005 JGC 5.7 hemi. Just last week I was driving on the highway and my jeep jumped into 3rd gear and wouldn't return to drive. I pulled off the road and ran the DTC. P 0700 came up, I knew this was a generic transmission code. I brought it home that night and disconnected the neg battery to clear the code. It came back up five minutes after I started it and took it around the block. I took it to AutoZone and had them read the code and it cam up with Shift Solenoid pack A. Has anyone ever had this problem? I have searched online for this to try to obtain the part but cannot seem to find it. I am not mechanic by any means but I would like to replace this myself if possible.

My questions are:

Where can I find this part or parts?

Is this something I can repair without bringing it to a tranny shop?

If I do bring it to a Tranny shop how much will this cost me?

Re: Stuck in 3rd gear with P 0700 code

If it is a solenoid failure, the pan must come down and the valve body must be removed from the transmission. the solenoid pack is mounted to the top of the valve body, im not 100% sure if the the solenoid pack is sold separate from valve body.

you MUST have a torque wrench to do this, and it will be VERY messy.
