surge

Hey guys, I am getting a slight surging when on the interstate. It seems to do it worse at a steady cruise. The local shop ran a diagnostics tool while driving it, thinking it was the EGR. The EGR checked within specs, any other direction to look. It's driving me crazy.

Thanks

Mitch

Re: surge

Sorry about the limited info. before
05 hemi, the surge is worse if the load is taken off the GC. If you are on a slight downhill or coasting type level surface speed. It is ever so slight, but a constant back and forth back and forth feeling. Like someone is very lightly taking the foot off the gas and then pressing it again. I can hear the MDS kick in and out by the sound of the exhaust. So i know it's not that kicking on and off. It is surging every second constant. It sounds sometimes like there is a slight flutter from the exhaust. I thought for sure it was the EGR starting to go bad but according to the diagnostic test while driving, that was OK. (Now this is according to the tech guy.) I don't know what the EGR is suppose to do during driving. I did see the numbers showing the EGR values were all over the place and constantly changing up and down. Hope the more detail will help with this. Thanks for any guidance on this.

Mitch

Re: surge

It is possible for the EGR valve to be going bad and not throw any codes. It's an easy and cheap replacement, and depending on your mileage may be good preventative maintenance anyway.
